Lunchtime with some colleagues who enjoy a good feed. I suggested trying out Shandong Mama and they like the good companions they are supported the decision wholeheartedly and with their tummies!
We ordered boiled and pan fried dumplings. We had pork and prawn boiled dumplings and the fried one fish. We all agreed we enjoyed these. These guys had been to another dumpling place recently in the CBD and had had an off putting, thick skinned experience so found these a dumpling delight.
I have to say the pan fried fish ones were a pleasant surprise. I liked the crispy bottom and the filling which didn't taste too MSG'd!
We also ordered scallion pancakes which were a bit doughy and heavy and some deep fried eggplant stuffed with pork which also weren't quite what we were expecting. We found these items somewhat disappointing. The waitress recommended a fried pastry thing with egg and chives which we had low expectations of but was really tasty. It disappeared too quickly and I didn't take a picture!
We also share a bowl of noodles which were pleasant enough. Price wise it's good value. Some dishes aren't so great but stick to dumplings and it's worthwhile. So worthwhile the guys went back today!
