Dinner tonight for us was roast chicken with Steve's speciality; roast potatoes. He does them so well. Also some cauliflower and broccoli cheese, roast pumpkin (a nod to Australia who are pumpkin mad) and some green beans.
Whilst I'd love some lobster in champagne sauce, ballotine of quail and a snowman dessert from the best restaurant in the World, my plateful of food (as pictured) was pretty darn good too!
This weekend has been a food fest. As of Friday morning we had no plans and just wanted to relax. Steve has been pretty busy with work. I've been feeling a bit under the weather with a cold that keeps threatening to erupt and floor me. So after a quick beer after work (yes it's a little weird that I'm developing a small taste for beer; not too much of it and not all the time but I am enjoying the odd one) Steve and I met up at home and had the whole what shall we do, you decide, no you decide conversation that is very typical of us.
We walked to the Southgate Centre which is currently being renovated and literally about 3 minutes away to see what inspired us and went to Walter's Wine Bar where we've been before and enjoyed. Food was good. We had a table overlooking the river and the night view of the skyline. A Friday night bottle of wine saw us unwind and embrace the weekend.
Saturday soon dawned and after a lie in we walked into town to find some lunch and get Steve a haircut. Lunch took place at Cumulus Inc which was really good and after food and wine; it was beginning to seem like the hair cut wouldn't take place much like the Saturday before and my frustration! Luckily, the boy knew better than to head straight home for a nap and risk my wrath. He persevered and worked through the fatigue and got a hair cut!
Not only did the boy sacrifice an hour on the sofa for a hair cut he also did good and had booked a restaurant on Friday for our Saturday night.
Cinderella time was super late and we didn't have the energy to party like it was 1999 and return to Spice Market like we could have done if we were younger! We're showing our very un cool side by telling you we hailed a taxi home and had a cup of tea before heading to bed!
So what have we done today? We did a market shop, had lunch (of course) which was a seafood extravaganza (see review of Claypots for further infobefore an afternoon at home trip planning (we're off to Perth and Margaret River in October) and blogging as well as cooking dinner which bring me right back to where this post started which makes this a great place to end!
