First week back was interesting...hottest temperatures I've ever experienced that week. Every day the temperature hit at least 40 degrees and Thursday and Friday saw temperatures of up to 45. So much so that public transport gave up and people had to leave work early and there was an emergency casual dress policy imposed at work which allowed the men to wear shorts and t-shirts!
Ice cream is a big hing in Melbourne this Summer with all these fancy places opening, Steve and I drove past Gelato Messina one warm Friday evening and the queue was at least 100 yards long! We returned on Sunday afternoon and it was much better and I have to admit the wait was worth it. It was delicious!
Steve and I went on the Saturday and had tickets to the Rod Laver Arena day matches. We had great corner seats about 6 rows from the front and Rachel and Tim joined us. J Cray also came from Sydney.
It was a great day. Steve and I got there early as I like to go around the sponsor stalls getting my fill of freebies and novelty photos. And Steve gets grumpy if we miss a game for such dalliances and diversions so we have to go round these exhibitions before the games start.
Temperatures seem to still be low back home in UK. Amelia still needs a woolly hat and gets wrapped up in her pushchair. She is full of self expression from the gleeful to the pensive and then the temper tantrum on the floor! Adorable!
