My little wander round on the Friday revealed a couple of new restaurants, the odd closure for renovation and the most exciting is that there looks to be some new trams on the road for our route! Not every tram has been replaced and there's probably more old trolley type ones than the swish and slinky ones but it's a start! And typically in the last 10 or so days we've been back we've not had the chance to catch a new tram and it's just been the old ones that have crossed our paths.

Walking in, the smell of vanilla and cinnamon is everywhere and it's delightfully delicious. It's hard to make a choice but we end up with the Walnut and Cinnamon scroll and a chocolate thing. The cruffins (cross between croissant and muffin) also look amazing. I can confirm both our purchases tasted good. Chewy, pillowy dough and the flavours are definitely there but not overpowering or overly sweet. Definitely worth a visit whilst it's around.

So this week was week 1 at work and it was pretty hard going. Not because the work was necessarily tough but more because it was tiring after 5 weeks off. The hump day milestone was celebrated with a midweek catch up with Kirsty for dinner and then we headed to Max Brenner to share some sugar!
This weekend kicked off with the first of Steve's birthday celebrations. His actual birthday is Tuesday but we wanted to take advantage of a voucher we received from Morris Jones for Steve to dine free and as part of our dinner came the generous and pretty amazing dessert platter complete with birthday candle. Look at the joy such a treat brings to his little face! |
Today we met up with Kirsty to view her new purchase; her Melbourne home which is lovely and then we headed to Fitzroy for an early dinner.
And I've spent the rest of tonight prepping lunch for the next couple of days. After being inspired by my sister's preparation of salads for her and Graeme's lunch and if she can do it being a mum of a toddler and working full time then I should be able too. So last week we had takeaway containers of couscous and salad like what she makes. And then I decide to take it further...which meant I had to spend some money on new tools... |
And whilst we've been getting back into things here in Melbourne, back in UK we've had a sneaky peek of Chris and Jo's wedding photographs and they're gorgeous. As expected really!
Amelia has been doing fun things with her daddy including a visit to the beach and funfair and another baking session with Aunty Zoe. She told her mummy she missed me staying in her house but when I called her today for a FaceTime session after a hello and a declaration that they were on their way to have some food and see a little girl, she didn't want to talk! I wonder what she will be like when she has hormones!
So there it is, work has started, we're back into what we do best...eating and cooking and drinking and relaxing on a weekend.
