It's been a while since I've blogged. Weekends have been lazy and there just hasn't seemed to be enough time! All just an excuse I know!

So what have we been up to? We had a weekend of cooking where Steve used every pot and pan we own to create some masterpieces. I always enjoy days like that when I can sit on the sofa and watch TV or read a book or something and he is busying away in the background. Open plan living used in the way it should be.

Steve's cooking genius included a snapper ceviche and roast rack of lamb one night. Another mealtime was BBQ ribs and grilled buttery corn. As a treat we had a lovely strawberry and chocolate cake trifle like dessert. Needless to say we also made a dent in the wine stash.

March was Melbourne Food and Wine Festival and Steve and I enjoyed a couple of events  including a session at Press Club Projects amidst science, wizardry and machinery. Chef Luke Croston guided us through chemistry, biology and physics as we ate and drank our way through numerous courses including the most amazing quail dish that was boned and then stuffed with garlic and almond meal and other beautiful things and served with the most delicious and doughy pretzel like bread.

There was also a delicious abalone and marron dish with marron from Kangaroo Island. I wonder if it came from the farm we vi
sited? We watched Luke treat us to a whole can of caviar too. Decadence on a Tuesday night? Who doesn't have caviar after work on a Tuesday?

We also enjoyed a feast at Huxable where guest chef Makoto Tokuyama came from Cocoro in New Zealand to work with Daniel Wilson and his team. As a result we were treated to some wonderful dishes and the whole evening was course after course of high quality food that flowed and came together so well. We had great seats up at the bar where we could see all the magic happen and the team worked so well together. Such a treat!
I think camping may be over for the season now. We enjoyed a great long weekend (Labour Day) in Bright and so much for it being Autumn. It was hot enough for a dip in the creek!

We've had the odd cooler day but on the whole it still feels pretty warm. Today we had to move tables to protect Steve's sensitive skin from the fiery sun and seek refuge in the shade.

What else have we been up to? We had a mooch round Fitzroy last Sunday with Rachel and Tim starting with lunch at The Commoner and then drinks at few places before Steve passed out at 7pm missing a Skype date with Amelia. It was good to have a stomp round as the latest news is that we are moving there! Yes after 3 and a half years at the lovely Eureka Tower, we fancy a change in scenery and adding some public transport to our work commute! So we'll be moving over the Easter period so watch this space for photos and details. Moving house is always so stressful though...we started some packing up today. Then decided to go for lunch with a bottle of wine instead!

To help combat stress, Steve and I went to a couple of comedy shows on Friday night - Tim Vine and Milton Jones. It's Melbourne International Comedy Festival or Melbourne International Leaflet Festival according to Milton Jones given the volume of flyering and posters that happen. We went sofa shopping, successfully yesterday and in the evening caught up with Andy and Stacey for some drinks and a Henson puppet show that was surprisingly excellent. Puppets and parmas were the them of the evening as we enjoyed this Aussie speciality for dinner post show.

The exciting news is that this Christmas is going to be a massive family reunion as I-Lin, Graeme, mum, dad and Amelia all pay a visit as well as Graeme's parents and 3 cousins plus a cousin's fiance! This is going to be one big holiday! So maybe we can take another photo like this one but 13 years later, I-Lin and I have husbands and there's even a little one. I can't wait to see little cheeky monkey and to show her around!

Uncle Wes can't help but shower her in love and affection in the vegetable aisle! Amelis is a little confused but not one to refuse such devotion!

We are Steve and Minda and we've been given the opportunity to move to Melbourne for two years. We arrived November 2010 and passed that two year milestone and are now Australian citizens! This is a blog of our experiences as we move to this new country, settle in and have fun!
