Birthday Bonanza!

Last week saw me reach 35 years of age. My boss's birthday is the day after mine so I baked a cake for us both and to share with the rest of the team.

On the morning of my birthday, Steve presented me with a little blue box and because he'd bought it around Christmas it was wrapped with a red ribbon. His words were. "Um, I bought this a while ago and I've been thinking about it the last few days and I think I might have bought you this before!"

So I unwrapped his gift and lo and behold it was a shinier, newer version of a necklace he'd bought me a few years ago! I showed him the original and his response was, "Well at least you know I must really like it if I picked it out again!" So I spent the lunch break on my birthday in Tiffany's picking out something shiny! And I went in with one box and came out with three! And I chose a shiny key pendant and two different length chains.

Another gift I received is this very lovely mug from Amelia. I have taken it to work and my morning cuppa is all the more pleasurable!

If you know me, you'll know that my stance on mid week birthdays is that celebrations have to take place on the weekends on either side of the special day! In this case rather than celebrate the weekend before I kinda stretched it out for two further weekends instead!

So the first weekend after my birthday was also Australia Day which meant long weekend! Yay! We decided to head down Mornington Peninsula and camp at a beach called Sorrento. Rather than drive down the coast we actually headed West and spent the morning in Geelong where there was a small festival on and we watched some beach volleyball as well as had some lunch. We then caught the car ferry from Queenscliff to Sorrento where we set up camp at the campsite along the foreshore.
Our two nights in Sorrento was spent lazing in the sun on the beach where we fell asleep and ot a bit burnt! We enjoyed dinner out and a picnic lunch and camping was fun! And with a blow up bed, it's also fairly comfortable. Steve's good at putting the tent up...he can do it in about ten minutes while I watch on!

After the long weekend, we had 4 days at work which went by very quickly. We had cancelled dinner reservations last Friday as what with having to pack for camping and a long long week at work, I decided that fine dining on a Friday night was not on the cards so we postponed to this Friday.

Whilst we were enjoying some delicious Italian food and being waited on like kings, we started talking about plans for the rest of the weekend. Steve informed me he'd booked a restaurant already...and that it was in Daylesford! And he'd booked accommodation too! What a lovely surprise.

So Saturday morning saw us head to Daylesford where we mooched around the town, enjoyed lunch and had a good relax before an amazing dinner at Kazuki's. The little B&B was stayed in was very cute and picturesque. It was a very warm weekend though with temperatures in the 40s.

We returned home on Sunday and Steve cooked dinner for us - spaghetti and meatballs which was delicious.

Speaking of food, look who can feed herself these days! And not only can she feed herself, she's all about the ride on toys. Growing up so fast!
