So we've had lots of rain; you know that already as I probably keep mentioning it. It is strange weather though because in between the rain we get bouts of 30 degree sunshine and the sky is so blue and cloud free it's like that downpour was all in my mind! So give me this changeable weather over the snow any day!
After my recruitment rant, I met with two other agencies early in the week. I've heard a little more from these two following these meetings so things are looking up. So much so that on Friday morning I was asked to start a temporary role on Monday. It's only meant to last a month but such is the nature of temp jobs. My last temp job in UK was meant to be a month but ended up lasting 3 so you never know. And if it ends up just being one month then I get another. No biggie. So yay! I get to earn some money before Christmas. However I had to ask to start on Tuesday as the other piece of good news for the week is our container is getting delivered on Monday afternoon! Whoop whoop! No more air bed which is a good thing not only from a comfort perspective but also I think we've broken it as it deflates far too quickly, There must be a puncture somewhere.
As well as this temp job that starts next week which is through Hudson (one of the recruitment consultancies I met this week) I am also in discussion with them about potentially working for them. Just a quick aside, I have to say that Hudson have provided me with excellent service so far. I emailed them my details on the day I wrote my rant and they got back to me later on and arranged a meeting for Tuesday this week. Since then they have been in touch and have kept me informed about my job search so I am pleased I have found a company that I can work with. So back to potentially working for them. They have an Account Manager type recruitment role that I am quite interested in and they seem to be quite interested in me so we shall see if something may happen there. Initially I was averse to working in recruitment again but I've met some pretty inspiring people at Hudson who may have managed to convince me otherwise! And my friend Ginger Rache works for them in UK and has always been positive about them as an employer and I trust her opinion so watch this space.
Ling and I basically spent a lot of time eating and chatting and eating and chatting. We met up and had lunch at my favourite dumpling place and started catching up on the last ten years. We wandered through the odd shop but were both very restrained as we're both unemployed at the moment. Although we can find the money to eat! The big treat of the day was afternoon tea at Hopetoun Tea Rooms which I will talk about when I review it.
Ling is a fellow blogger and actually was one of the people who inspired me to start mine. She also enjoys taking photos of food so definitely have things in common! It really was a fun day and she was excellent company so I hope to be able to repeat the experience.
