I've had lunch with a couple of people; a girl from work and an old schoolfriend both of which were lots of fun. It was especially nice to catch up with Corinne whom I have known since our schooldays and she has been in Melbourne for a good number of years now and sounds so very Australian. Her home is here now; her husband is here, her daughter was born here and her son is due to be born here and it's so nice to see that she is so happy here.
I caught up with Emma and Charlotte on Friday evening and a new friend called Vida came along. We had cocktails at Madame Brussels in the sunshine before heading to Hu Tong for dumplings which I am so pleased they enjoyed. Emma called them "little pockets of Heaven" which I find quite apt. We followed this with more cocktails at a bar called 1806 which is all red velvet and gentlemens club-esque.
Steve had to go to work on Saturday so given he'd only have one day off (Sunday this week) I decided to let him off cleaning and I did it all myself! He repaid though by texting me mid morning suggesting we go out that evening and he said he'd sort it out. I did think it might involve sport either live or on a big screen and tried to steer him clear from that. He came up trumps though with a table at Gordon Ramsay's Maze! More on that in the Restaurant Review section.
We've spent Sunday having pho at Victoria Street and a visit to the Japanese store where everything is $2.80. I love those Japanese stores. They sell everything from hair nets to kitchenware to food to clothing. And now we're watching TV (very old Baywatch episode) with the papers and I'll start cooking dinner shortly. A very relaxing day before work starts tomorrow...eek! I think the thought of having to return to work after such a lovely break is more yucky ht
