We arrived pretty earlier for a Saturday night but it was a Race Day which means everywhere is busy. This is a very buzzy and busy place with an open kitchen where you can see maybe half a dozen frantic Italians making dough and baking pizzas and a huge pizza oven. It's pretty crowded and you get to hear your neighbours conversations but that all adds the hearty Italian welcome.
We started with a meat and cheese platter which was promptly devoured as you can see in the pictures above. Three types of meat and four types of hard cheese along with some truffle honey which Steve practically licked out the dish and some quince purée. Accompanied by a bottle of pinot grigio it was a good start.
We really enjoyed our pizzas but were absolutely stuffed so now know that next time we share a pizza so we have room for dessert. We saw a couple next to us share a starter, then a pizza, then a dessert and I think that is the way to go for next time. Coupled with the fact that this place is in fact pretty close to home, maybe a ten minute walk, makes me think we could become regulars!
