Midweek dinner and I wanted to try Little Nyonya in Docklands.
It was empty when we arrived but by the time we left there was one large party and a couple of smaller groups.

There are also tables outside closer to the waterfront.
There is a big menu on display just outside of the inside dining hall. It has pictures of delicious looking dishes and lots of choice. However we are told that that is the lunch menu and the dinner menu is actually one laminated piece of paper with a much smaller range of dishes at a higher price.
We noticed that the large menu actually confused a few people who came to eat whilst we were there and the wait staff had to explain every time that the menu wasn't in operation. Perhaps they should take it away during dinner service?
I guess because of its location in Docklands, the lunch trade must be busier and more lucrative than a dinner service.
Anyway we decided to sit outside and enjoy the view. Our drinks orders were taken quite quickly. I had a teh tahrik and Steve had water. The teh tahrik was pretty authentic and not too sweet.

The large party had pre ordered so we had to wait for all their food to come out before our's arrived. Once the food started coming out for them, all the waitstaff concentrated on the large table so it was hard to get someone's attention to get some water. We also toyed with ordering some veggies but because we couldn't get the attention of a waiter we decided to let it go.
Our food came whilst they still had to serve the large table and because the waitstaff were concentrating on that we had to wait and remind a passing waiter to bring us some cutlery and chilli sauce for the chicken.
Portion size was pretty decent except for the satay sticks. The beef was tender but the flavour was not as deep and satisfying and as creamy as it could have been. The steamed chicken had been deboned and was acceptable. It would have been nicer with some more soy sauce I think.

The food was passable. If you compromise the surroundings, you can get cheaper and better in the CBD. We probably wouldn't repeat the experience out of choice. Maybe it's better at lunchtime. The view and surroundings are really pleasant though and we enjoyed watch the sunset over the water.
