Cobb Lane was in the right place and the right time and we were able to walk in and secure a table quite easily greeted by a friendly waitress. As we browsed the cake cabinet we saw a couple behind us have a doughnut with ice cream and that turned our heads so we wanted to join that party.
We found out it was the salted caramel doughnut which we could see in the cabinet but the secret to Heaven lay in the fact that it had been split into two and a scoop of peanut butter ice cream added. When it was explained to us as to what it actually was a part of me wished it was just plain vanilla ice cream as too much sweetness and complexity in a dessert is not my thing but I decided that if we were sharing then it should be ok.
It was more than ok! The peanut butter ice cream wasn't as overwhelming as I thought it could be. I always think peanut butter flavoured things are going to be intense and fudgey and cloying and leave me with that stuck to the roof of my mouth feeling but this ice cream was light and subtle with a wholesome creaminess that tempered the salted caramel. It was delicious! I would definitely recommend this.
Our tea looked a bit weak and the pots came with no leaves or teabag in it so we couldn't brew it to be stronger. It was better than it looked and with the strong flavours of the dessert, the tea was acceptable. But I still think it could have been better and would have preferred the leaves or tea bag to be present. Otherwise it's not really tea!
