We spend around $30 and felt it was a good deal. I enjoyed the fried beancurd in the laksa and there was plenty of chicken in it. The noodles were also cooked well with just the right amount of chew. The downside to it was the broth was a bit thin and looked depth and oomph. The laksa from the Asian stall at Queen Vic Market has the oomph in tonnes.
Hainanese chicken rice also had its positives. The chicken was soft and slippy which is good and the accompanying what I call Asian spring onion pesto was also good and not too salty which it can be. The not so goods was the chilli tasted like it was out of a jar than fresh, the broth was bit MSG ish and the rice was not chickeny enough!
Minced beef fried rice is a friend of the hangover as it has just the right amount of grease and salt. It wasn't too dry and was pretty tasty.
Overall we quite like Gold Star for a cheap feed. Personally it's not quite gold star yet but I wouldn't be opposed to giving it one star.
