Steve and I were given a lovely gift from our wonderful friends Adele and Jon to spend on "something fun" when we got to Australia. Having done a bit of research into things, I came across something called the Entertainment Book which is a really thick book full of vouchers to restaurants and some other attractions with good discounts; 25% off up to a maximum of $20 or $30 or $40 in some cases depending on the restaurant. So armed with a voucher we went to Il Nostro Posto.
We sat outside and were looked after by a team of friendly wait staff. Our first glass of wine was on the house as they tried to lure us in. Starters were tasty; bruschetta for Charlotte, fried Pecorino cheese for Emma and calamari for me. My portion of calamari was huge so I asked the girls to help out which they did. It was tender and the coating crispy but not too thick a batter. The rocket it came with was a good contrast.
Emma and I ordered the same main course which was a seafood linguine ovenbaked in a paper parcel. It arrived still wrapped up and the ever obliging waiter opened it up for us. It was very tasty with the right amount of tomato sauce and lots of fish, squid, a few mussels and two king prawns. Charlotte had the seafood risotto and she left a clean plate too so I assume all was good.
We enjoyed our time here and had a really good giggle about girly things. I think the wine was over priced and if we didn't have the 25% off voucher then it would have been expensive for what it was. However with the voucher we all felt that it was a fair price.
We decided to forego dessert there and head to the Golden Monkey for a cocktail and to the old favourite Max Brenner's for dessert.
