We passed a Pancake Parlour and understand this to be a Melbourne thing so decided we'd give it a try. There are 11 branches dotted around the city and it's been established since 1965. We both opted for the Country Breakfast; Steve had scrambled eggs and I had poached. As well as the eggs it came with bacon, garlic mushrooms, grilled tomato and 2 buttermilk pancakes with whipped butter. Maple syrup is available on the table. I liked the crispy bacon and the tomatoes were grilled the way I like ie soggy rather than raw. There was too much whipped butter on the pancakes and the mushrooms made the whole plate greasy. My poached eggs were a bit watery which made the pancakes less spongey and more slimy. Portion size is huge and we left feeling well, slightly sick! But it is self inflicted as we didn't have to finish it all.
I don't think I'd hunt out another Pancake Parlour to go to but if I was hungry and was passing I'd go in. Maybe next time try a smaller sized portion or a dessert!
