Anyway the few times we've been we've either not had room or they sold out of the egg tarts by the time we got to dessert. So this time we reserved our two egg tarts when we placed our dim sum order. This post is really an ode to the egg tart. Everything else was good as usual but it was all about the egg tart.
It was a delightful specimen. Beautiful, buttery pastry that just shatters at the merest touch and melts in the mouth. A luscious rich custard that isn't too eggy and has the seductive wobble of just being barely set and served ever so slightly warm. The nearest contender to this was the egg tart at the food hall in Box Hill but it's pretty far to travel for us.
